One of my goals this year is to make Jesse Tree ornaments (I'm behind in getting started!) But this is a similar idea, only with the Passion story.
I am using something I found on a Catholic woman's blog, after my 8 yr old asked me what Ash Wednesday was. And I am finding that learning about the choice Jesus made to sacrifice is something even my children can begin to understand.
